Hybrid drive bays support SATA3 and NVMe drives using the U.2 connector. This allows industry-standard SSD and HDD drives to be hot-swapped in the bay. The hybrid bay also allows NVMe drives to occupy the same location but connect directly to the computer PCI bus.
Hybrid drive bays support either SATA3/SAS or NVMe drive types in a 2.5” drive form factor. The NVMe drives use the U.2 interface and the SSD hardware form factor. Both drive types allow industry standard SSD and HDD drives to be hot swap inserted or replaced. Hybrid drive bays auto-sense the drive type and interconnect to either the SATA/SAS bus or connect directly to the PCIe bus depending on the drive types inserted.« Glossary Index
