Azure Log Analytics, part of the Azure monitoring services, enables you to collect and correlate data from multiple sources and provides actionable insights about your IT environment. By using these insights, you can reduce the mean time to resolution of issues and get time back to focus on your strategy and innovation.
Recently, the service started transitioning the back-end platform to a highly scalable and much more flexible data store—offering powerful search, smart analytics, and even deeper insights. This upgrade provides access to an advanced analytics portal, including an interactive query language and integrations with PowerBI Desktop.

The upgrade option is introduced via a banner in the Log Analytics workspaces. It is available initially in these regions: West Central US, East US, South East Australia, West Europe, and South-East Asia, followed by others. Steps to upgrade:
- In the Log Analytics workspace, click the banner that’s prompting you to upgrade and follow the instructions.
- After you click the Upgrade button, all your artifacts, such as saved searches, views, alerts, and computer groups, are converted in a few seconds.
Note: You need at least the contributor permission on the Azure resource to perform the upgrade.
