Our History

Headquartered in the heart of the Silicon Valley, Argon Systems was founded in 2015 by an engineering team specializing in Microsoft private cloud infrastructure.

We began developing cloud computing technologies in 2008 with Microsoft Windows Cloud OS.

The founder, Robert Keith, has been awarded 40 patents for cloud, networking, storage and computing technologies. Most have since been acquired by Microsoft.

We built the first Windows virtualized gateway in collaboration with Microsoft.

Leadership Team

Robert Keith

Robert Keith

Founder and CEO

Robert has 30 years of experience in IT technology development and infrastructure management. He was the founder of several infrastructure ventures including Intellivence, MaxSP, Sentrik and most recently was the CTO of Iron Networks.

As CTO of Iron Networks in San Jose, CA, he worked directly with many companies in the Silicon Valley to design and architect network, security and cloud solutions. He worked directly with Microsoft engineering in the design of their cloud architectures including storage, Hyper-V, Systems Center and Virtual Networking. He also worked directly with Hortonworks to design a Hadoop deployment and management system using CentOS and many layered software packages.

As the sole author of 40 issued technology patents (21 acquired by Microsoft) comprising technologies for cloud, networking, storage and computing technologies, Robert has designed and overseen many products based on both Linux and Windows that are scalable and elastic cloud infrastructure components and management systems which are now core building blocks of today’s cloud.

Chief Technical Officer

Helmut is an experienced technology professional and entrepreneur in the areas of networking, security, and IT infrastructure. He founded SecureGUARD in 2000 in Austria, and has built it into a leading provider of Windows based embedded appliances in Europe. Helmut has been working with Windows Server since NT 3.1 and has been involved in developing many multi-faceted solutions from Kernel level coding to architecting large scale network infrastructures.

His work has influenced the adoption of these technologies by global systems integrators, channel partners, and enterprises alike resulting in several large scale 100K+ user deployments globally.

Helmut currently is leading the SecureGUARD team to deliver turnkey products for SMB’s and service providers to build private and hybrid clouds with Windows Server and Windows Server Essentials seamlessly linking to Microsoft cloud services. In his role as CTO at Argon Systems, he drives technology development and engineering to help make Argon Systems a leader in the Microsoft Private Cloud space.

Jim Reekes

Jim Reekes

VP of Marketing

During his 12 years writing software at Apple Computer, Jim worked at every level of the operating system. As a member of the QuickTime team, he created the company’s innovative audio architecture, earning him two patents and establishing the foundation for countless multimedia products. His contributions include key benefits and innovations found in iTunes and the iPod. He was instrumental in designing the user interface and architecture for Kerbango, the world’s first stand-alone Internet radio, winning “Best of Show” at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Jim Reekes was the former VP of Product Management for Meeting Maker, Inc., creating the company’s product vision and strategy. Jim’s efforts resulted in revitalizing the product through new positioning and exceptional product benefits. He reorganized the company’s product line, and extended it by integration and acquisition. Jim has provided consulting services in product management to Silicon Valley for a diverse set of clients ranging from software products to websites. Jim is often described as “visionary.” Jim has expertise in product strategy, competitive analysis, market driven requirements, messaging and positioning, and brand building.

Advisors

Jim Brisimitzis

General Manager for US Startups at Microsoft, and was formerly the Director of Operations for Microsoft Ventures. Jim led the Microsoft efforts with Microsoft Modular Datacenters which are shipping container sized modular data center appliances. In addition to spending more than a decade at Microsoft, Jim successfully founded a startup within the corporation (and raised >$1 million for the project) while growing a team of specialists to facilitate corporate engagement with startups in key markets across the US.

Dennis DeAndre

Chief Executive Officer of BizBuySell, Inc. Mr. DeAndre is a founder and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Lopstream Networks and Loop Ventures Inc. He has more than 12 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. He previously worked with Arroyo & Coates. He served as the Co-Chairman and a Member of the Board of Directors of LoopNet, Inc. until February 2006. He established LoopNet in 1995. Mr. DeAndre graduated from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in real estate and finance.

John B. Goodrich

John has a variety of business and legal experience working with technology-based companies and serves as an advisor to several startup companies. John served as a Director of Trimble since January 1981. He retired in 2002 from the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati where he practiced corporate, federal tax, securities and intellectual property law from 1970 until 2002. Since then he has worked as a business consultant, rancher and investor. From 2004 to 2009, he also served as the Chief Executive Officer of MaxSP Corporation, an information technology services company. John currently serves on the board of directors of the Fogarty Institute for Innovation. He owns and operates the Tonini Farm and Cattle Company in San Luis Obispo and has advised beef marketing companies in the Northwest.

He has taught securities and tax law courses at Santa Clara University and lectured in business and technology seminars at Stanford University. Mr. Goodrich received an LLM in Taxation from New York University in 1970, a J.D. from the University of Southern California in 1966 and a B.A. degree from Stanford University in 1963.
